Throughout all times, periods, and ages—golden and dark—the same sun has warmed the earth and cast light on the planet. And this same sun is coming in through the window to illuminate the page before me. From the birth of the very idea of light, through its contemporary maturity to its final form at the end of time, this light will have sighted whole kingdoms and nourished prairie, tree and flower.  And in the story of this light, the mystery is beheld—I didn’t say understood—that while Light touches all aspects of our being and is the source of all of our knowledge, it is inextricably linked to darkness. The presence of light calls everything into view–except itself. It reveals all, but never fully reveals itself.
