To prepare for the next round of great people, let’s read “Stony the Road,” by Henry Lewis Gates. It’s his companion book to the videos on Reconstruction. And re-watch that video looking for great people to inhale.

His autobiography is “The Long Walk.” It’s long but wonderful, with “wows” on every page.

Please watch the 4 hour video that focuses on the last eight years leading up to the vote on Suffrage in 1920. These episodes are in season 32 of American Experience, and are titled “American Experience: The Vote.”

You’ll meet some other wonderful people including:
Mary Wollstonecraft.
The Pankhursts – Emmeline, Sylvia and Christabel.
The argument of the broken window pane is the most valuable argument in modern politics.

Recommended reading: Desmond Tutu by Stephen D. Gish and No Future Without Forgiveness by the Archbishop himself. But I saw lots more of his writings so feel free to explore.
