The Christuman Way

A Community of Souls...exploring the mystery of being human

Daily Signet

Whoosh, the mystery of enlightenment…that’s a big mystery—how the earthly and spiritual can unite in a human being in a kind of constant exchange of light.  Gregory Palamas says, “We hold up our light to see the Light.” It is the call of the Magi to go into some of the darkest nights of the year to scan the skies for the star that will guide your course. This call to follow the star admonishes us to Silence…to hush our mouths and our explanations in order “to see.” Our twelve high services are opportunities to do just that…to enter each mystery and to behold. The first service of the New Year, a Prayer to the Mystery of Enlightenment prepares the ground of us for the other eleven services ahead of us…reminds us that we do not enter a mystery to solve or resolve, but to See. Illumination is what comes when you’ve given up understanding and are still looking, but now with the simple eye.
