A Community of Souls...exploring the mystery of being human

Prayer for Hearing the Call

O Beloved Spirit,

20190825_121514.jpg

We have heard the call.
We have packed up where we have been
and taken our belongings—
that which gave us belonging—
and nested them in protective wrap
within boxes nested in bigger boxes
and whisked them away into storage
in anticipation of the Unknown New.
We have heard the call.
We have walked rooms laden
with memory upon memory,
candle lighting upon candle lighting,
song upon song,
and we are saying our “Goodbyes”.
We have emptied out, swept out, cleaned out—
we are out.
Now we ask: “Where are we?”

O Beloved Spirit,
Are we closer or farther away?
Are we at an ending or at a beginning?
Are we losing our place or finding it?
A call has lifted us out of our expected course.
We have answered the call.
We feel the twinge of reminiscence
as we reflect on the letting go.
We feel a revitalized energy
on the verge of the New.
We have heard the call.
And though we are unsure as to its way
and unclear as to its end—
we embark.

O Beloved Spirit,
Unmoored and unanchored,
we are launched or relaunched onto our Quest—
our Quest for beloving,
for belonging,
for beholding.
Continue to seam us together with unseen connections
that we may be held as community,
as anamchara, as soul-friends on our priestly paths.
In God's Name be the course and the mooring:
let us embark. Amen
