The Christuman Way

A Community of Souls...exploring the mystery of being human

Prayer to the Boon

O Beloved Spirit,
We give gratitude for the jewels and diamonds
that now fill the lining of our travel clothes.
We have many marvels to extol,
many mementos to re-member,
many iconic moments to memorialize.
Our altars pay homage to the boon—
to the civilizing genius of the human,
to the home of the heart,
to the atrium of the soul.
We marvel to realize now,
that You have had designs all along.
These designs, threaded through our prayers
and woven into our contemplations
and interlaced throughout our Services,
emerge into a singular Credo
that now blooms into
the All believed and the All Beloved—
our jewels and our diamonds.

These designs had an all-at-onceness
when they entered us on the Mesa some 32 years ago.
These designs had an of-courseness
as they threaded us through these last 23 years
centered in the Dean’s home.
These designs now draw us outward and onward
as we give gratitude for the jewels and the diamonds,
for the boon of Beauty—
of music discovered,
of friendship revealed,
of the imaginative at the Table gracing us;
for the boon of The Mystery—
for the gift of the unfathomable,
for the celebration of the not-knowing,
for the transfiguration found in the un-knowing.
for the boon of The Community—
for the celebrations of birth and death,
for the nightly prayers for the people,
for the sacred conversation immersed in laughter and tears.
We give gratitude for the jewels and diamonds
that now fill the lining of our travel clothes.
May we be held as Community, as we behold a new journey.
May we be soul-friends on our priestly paths
as we carry the boon of the seeds from where we have been
into the gardens and atriums of where we are going—
our jewels and our diamonds. Amen
