An Invocation of Yang

O Beloved Spirit,
We are grateful for the interweaving energies
of the yin and the yang, 
of the male and the female
that hum through our veins
and sing such a singular song 
through each of us.
Our outer form belies the truth 
that our One is a unique mix of the two 
as we expound into 
an unmistakable expression of the Both. 

This day we pay tribute to and call upon
the Yang, the male in us,
that we might siphon up the impetus,
the active force, the warrior spirit
to do battles where we are called to fight,
to accomplish what seems impossible,
to forge ahead despite our weariness. 

This day we thank and embrace 
the male in us and befriend its fire,
cultivate its heat, channel its passion.
This day we sing a song of Yang 
to its galvanizing energy—
of crossing boundaries, 
of braving new insights; 
of crossings into death for the boon.
And so we invoke the power of the Yang—
where we wrestle our angel until daybreak,
where we hold fast to what we believe is true,
where we persevere unrelenting 
until we receive our blessing. 

This day we sing a song
in tribute to the Male, the Yang
that it may fuel the necessary change 
vital to our soul’s purpose.
May we allow in its transforming fire
that we might expound into 
an unmistakable expression of our Both. Amen.
