The Christuman Way

A Community of Souls...exploring the mystery of being human

Daily Signet

The Enneanean calls us to “come into the light with mind and heart and creation.”  Then you become “at one with the others who have become human whether thousands of years ago or now, or yet to be, and you become at one with the Divine, for the sacred seed was planted in humankind a very long time ago.”  What greater life to live than one lived entirely in the context of what some folks might reductively call “just a myth.” Howard Thurman in The Mood of Christmas says, “There must be always remaining in every man’s life some place for the singing of angels….” Seasons of myth and miracle re-member and re-mind us of the miracle of the élan vital that sustains human life.  The wonders of technology make absolutely clear the fact that right at this very moment there are star nurseries bearing light above us in the heavens as well as within us in the vast silences of our cells. The beautiful prayer attributed to Muhammad which we recite at the beginning of each Communal Service reminds us of the profound truth that whenever we come to the table there are living, breathing “star nurseries” on each of our right hands and on each of our left hands as well. Each person at the table is the manger from which Christ is born…an incarnate picture of the Credo of the élan vital which all creation longs for and celebrates. This is the love of the Christ in me for the earth of me. There is no way to reduce this vision to anything less than a Magnificat, and sometimes when angels sing, we must fall silent in our attempts to define. And this is the stuff and sound of you and me out of which we’re created and of which we are given to create.
