And in a twinkling of an eye, unhinged and unfastened,
The miracle, the passing of a threshold.
Like a baby's first breath;
the choice that is itself an impulse to life,
itself the quickening that unhinges, that unfastens, 
Embark...
Like the seaman who sets the boat in motion
by his very leap from shore.
